Endurance pursuits have been in my blood since 2005. By the 3rd year of college I was seeking a way to fine tune the 220lbs I had stacked on for football and power lifting. Due to nagging injuries, I had to find a new outlet for competitiveness outside of collegiate football.
Out of sheer interest, I accepted a holiday weight loss challenge from my dad. Soon I whittled my way down to 182lbs by eating healthier and running regularly. After beating him, the next challenge was running a marathon with him. I had watched him run Twin Cities and Grandmas, but frankly, I still hated running. Since that day in June, I have lowered my marathon PR to 2:45, lost over 70lbs, finished top 10 in each distance (from 5k to 100 miles), and met many inspiring people along the way. Always on the move, I have taken that same competitive passion and poured it into cycling, mostly pursuing long distance gravel, mountain, and bikepack experiences. Not only have these pursuits allowed me to connect with the outdoors, but it has transformed my life. If this resonates with you, follow along as I continue to develop and compete, pouring countless hours of passion into something I love. This blog will be focused on advice, discoveries, race reviews, experiences, and memorable moments captured along the way. Thanks for visiting my site! |
